More messages do not always mean better communication
Families need timely, relevant information. School teams need a manageable way to provide it. When every update moves through unrelated chats and personal telephone numbers, both sides can lose context.
Better communication starts with three principles:
- Use recognised channels for official information.
- Connect messages to the relevant learner and school context.
- Give staff clear responsibility for responding and following up.
Reliable records improve every conversation
A parent enquiry about attendance, fees, or results is easier to resolve when authorised staff can see the same current record. The aim is not to make communication impersonal. It is to remove the confusion that prevents people from giving useful answers.
Protect boundaries and trust
School communication systems should preserve appropriate access. Parents should see information concerning their children. Teachers should see the information required for their roles. Sensitive records should not be copied into informal channels without control.
